Being a recent Mac Mini M2 owner I am getting a little frustrated with external drive disconnections.

In the Energy Saver option I set the Put hard disks to sleep when possible to OFF.

I have Amphetamine Drive Alive set to ON session set to Indefinitely and have wake drive every 60 seconds
yet still I get external drive disconnects.

Disconnects happening when?
I didn't put when because they just happen at any time, since posting it seems I have solved the problem ( Fingers Crossed ) I tried the drives in a different encloser and so far no disconnects. so I am putting it down the enclosere.

Which version of macOS? Besides: you tried a different cable? There is an older thread here on MR where some fixes/workaround to this are given.

One option is to mount the external drive(s)/device(s) and then kill the usb demon (which is responsible for connect/disconnect/reconnect) from the terminal.

The command is sudo killall -STOP -c usbd, which pauses the process until you either reboot your Mac or enter the command sudo killall -CONT -c usbd to restart the process. This often fixes the problem.

I opened the enclosure, put a heat-sink on top of the NVME driver. I then stuck another heatstink perpendicaly on top of the other cause it was still super hot and now it's able to transfer 1TB non stop at top speed without any problem. Well it's not entirely true. One problem now is that it's not as portable ;)

Buying cheap external enclosures is half the issue... I have an OWC 1M2 never ever had a disconnect.
