I'm replacing my Intel MacBook Air with M2 and looking for a privacy screen. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm satisfied with the current magnetic Kensington screen, but it doesn't look like they have anything for M2 Air with yet.

This is the one I ordered from Amazon… for the MBA M2.

USICOOR Privacy Screen Protector for MacBook Air 13.6 inch M2 (A2681) 2022 Release, Anti-blue light anti spy Removable Easy installation No bubble privacy filter https://amzn.asia/d/baLNMRe

I can't see that in the UK Amazon store.

There is now one from Upscreen, but this must be stuck to your screen.

I'm going to wait for one that is removable, preferably connecting by magnets.

They exist for the MBP 14 and 16". They attach by magnets in the corners.

The link I sent was for a magnetic screen for MBA M2. For my M1, I have the Kensington screen which is magnetic - no doubt they'll be making an M2-compatible version, too.

Maybe you have a friend in the US that can order the one I did.

The one I ordered is due on the 17th of August, so I'll report on it here once I have it in my hands.

And no doubt more of these from various vendors will arrive.

As per usual with Amazon (and Apple, which delivered my MBA M2 a week early), the new privacy shield for the MBA arrived, and did so yesterday.

It’s great! There’s a thin magnetic outline across the top of the plastic shield, and it sticks on nicely.

You can’t reverse it as with the Kensington for the M1 Macs and the previous Intel versions, as you’re instructed in the instructions to place the unit with the slightly rough top outline edge facing you, I guess so you know which way is which.

Anyway, the privacy aspect of seeing black when looking from the sides works exactly as expected.

It’s a little steep at AUD $71, but I just wanted to get one ASAP because I’ve been using them for over a decade and they deliver on the promise of keeping your screen private from side viewers in cafes, planes etc.

I had the 3M ones originally, different versions, then the much easier to apply magnetic Kensington, and now this previously unheard of Usicoor brand, which is also niftily magnetic.

Happy with it so far!

I also always get a laugh from the 3M ads preserved on YouTube:

Here’s the plane ad:
