My speakers have been making popping sounds pretty much since I bought the machine. It happens randomly, not sure what's triggering it. Is there any fix for this? It's really annoying.

Year and model of your MacBook? Version of macOS installed? What software is being used to generate sounds from the speakers? Are you referring to built-in speakers or external speakers? Need a lot more information and details, my friend.

all audio software pop with built in speakers

Actually, I just did a test with headphones, and it seems like the popping is happening there too but it's less of a pop and more of a quieter distortion.

Wired headphones? Or bluetooth?

Turn off Bluetooth. Still hear “distortion”? Turn off WiFi. Still hear “distortion”?

Have you tried updating your audio drivers and checking your speaker connections?
In this case, if the problem persists, it may be a hardware problem.

Well, if you eventually decide to tear down and check out the speaker's.....video is here!
