Okay that title is a little deceiving…
I just ordered a 13” MBA M2 for my wife.
Back in 2017 when she needed a laptop the choice was pretty cut and dried, it was 13” MBP entry spec or 13” MBA and maybe a Macbook that was well overdue a spec bump.
So even though the MBP was overkill for her needs I knew that it would last her well and be able to handle everything she threw at it. Here we are 6 years later ano that i5 Intel MBP is still chugging along, the battery is due to to be replaced under the battery recall and it can be a little sluggish at times but it’s still works… absolutely fine for her needs…. but it’s old tech and she can’t afford for it to just not turn on one day so we decided that a new bit of cap ex was in order…
My initial assumption was that the 14” M2 Pro MBP was the natural replacement for her 2017 13: MBP… but when I took a look at the current laptop line up I realised that this wasn’t the case. The 13” MBA is way more powerful then the 2017 MBP and is a very capable machine.
That’s crazy, 6 years ago the MBA was a good laptop but not a serious contender for a business investment machine… time will tell of course but I’ll be very happy if the M2 MBA is still going strong in 6 years and see no reason why it won’t be…
