I'm thinking of getting a second MacBook - this time 13" Air - but with maxed out RAM and SSD.

Should I got for the MacBook Air M2 24GB RAM 2TB SSD now or anything better to wait till, say April with more RAM ?

I don't think I would wait till October for M3 Air, if at all.

i personally doubt a M3 air in October. It will be initially reserved for Pros - esp since the next iPhone pro may also be competing for the 3mm process outputs.

Myself, I would wait to the the rumoured 15" MBA at Easter/June ... which will be M2... if it is light enough. I find the pro's too heavy (but that is just me).

Just buy now and enjoy your computer. If you needed extra performance, you wouldn't be looking at the MBA line up in the first place, so the M2 MBA will be just fine for you.

It's only worth waiting if you can't stand a small 13" screen and need atleast 15" (there might a be a 15" M3 MBA coming).

I am currently having a 15.6" i7 16GB RAM 512GB SSD connected to a 27" monitor - which fits for my web development purposes. Now need something additional with more RAM and SSD. I am not sure of 16GB -> 24GB would be befitting for the next 5 years. Docker and jetbrains IDEs extra.

There wont be a mid 2023 with more RAM.

Why not buy a refurbished 14“ M1Pro with 32GB?

If you're buying now, buy it now. If you are buying at 2nd half of the year or summer, don't buy.

It seems that you don’t need it urgently. If I were you, I would wait.

If you need more RAM, SSD and you are connecting to a monitor, you should be looking at a MacBook Pro or a desktop machine (Mac Mini, Studio Display)

I got a $3039 quotation for :

Apple M2 chip with 8‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
24GB unified memory
67W USB-C Power Adapter
2TB SSD storage
AppleCare+

which after a student discount in India from Apple sales chat.

But recently I got hold of someone working in Apple in US - am definitely going to get that by August end with US price and employee discount.
