So I use Stats for only monitoring CPU/GPU Temp and Fan speed on the menu bar.

I've noticed recently that the fans kick in to 25% way more often than they used to?

Currently as you can see these are my temps. I only have regular stuff open not doing much in terms of actual usage. Zoom, Slack, Discord, Telegram (all app windows closed just idling), Firefox (watching youtube as PiP) and VScode. Nothing is actually using a lot of the CPU or GPU.

Is this normal behaviour? I swear months ago this did not happen. The laptop itself is always docked and closed on a vertical stand, I take it out probably once every couple of months.

As long as the fans aren't any nosier then usual, and hence not bothering you, I wouldn't even waste time looking into this.

Not sure where you are in the world, but it's Summer here. Quite a hot one at that. That will affect this fairly substantially especially in the idling temperatures and lower fan speeds

Yes, very true. But if CPU/GPU temps aren't that much higher then it should act the same right? It just feels like fans are kicking in earlier than they used to a year ago for example. It pretty much was at 0% 95% of the time.

As soon as I use OBS to record my screen for example, even though temps are barely changed, it instantly kicks to 25%

There’s other factors. Battery temp, skin temperature (there’s laws for chassis temp), ssd temps and various other sensors with different tolerances that may be more affected by ambient temps.

Just to be clear here; Your fans are spinning at their *minimal* speed while still being on. This isn't a sign of anything concerning to me - just a hot Summer causing *all* the components to have a higher resting temperature even if the CPU/GPU components that generate their own heat not being noticeably hotter than before, and the fans spinning up to keep chassis cooler and components with other tolerances than CPU/GPU
