Both are the same price. Which would you choose, the M4 with more RAM & larger SSD; or the M4 Pro with more CPU + GPU but less internal RAM and smaller SSD storage. And why?

Depends on what you're doing with it. Is RAM or CPU cores more important to your workflow? How much storage do you need?

As far as MY needs, 10/10+24/512 works for me.... which, coincidentally, is what I bought. But MY needs aren't relevant to YOUR purchase.

Storage I can live with 512. Internal RAM of 24GB is ok, just think 32GB offers a little more breathing space. I think 10/10 is plenty of CPU and GPU with these apple chips

Note that the 10 cores of M4 and the 12 cores of base M4 pro are NOT the same cores, meaning that the configuration is different: in the former, you have 4 Performance cores and 6 Efficiency ones, whereas in the latter you have 8P and 4E cores, i.e., twice as many P cores as in the M4 case. Thus, if you have performance-demanding use cases in mind, you will be better off with the M4 pro. However, in most use case scenarios that involve daily tasks, M4 with 32GB/1TB will be more than enough. It heavily depends on your intended use.
