I received my $350 store credit today, so I placed the order for a Mac Studio. 😄 Before buying, I double checked the refurbished section expecting only to find M2 and M1 Studios. To my surprise, I found a M4 Max with the exact specs I wanted. That was additional $300 discount. Since I already budgeted for a new one, I decided to add a USB-C keyboard and trackpad. The only device I’ll have with a Lighting port now is my iPhone 8+ that I keep as a backup phone.

The only annoying thing is I couldn’t apply my Apple Account balance to my purchase until after I removed AppleCare. I’ll just have to remember to buy it after I get my Studio ASAP.

Don’t shy away from the refurbished section. You can get really good deals there, and those devices are thoroughly tested before being sold. Shoutout to Apple for the Trade-in option.

One more thing. Yes, I checked the buyer’s guide before ordering.

Its a chonky boi to be sure, Tbh though, the studio is the premier dekstop from apple that most consumers/prosumers can and will get imo. The Mac Pro is really a niche machine given its high cost. I think Apple knows this since the Mac Pro last saw an update 759 days ago.

Is it overkill for me? Absolutely. Do I care after getting a $650 discount? Hell no! 😆

I just wanted to share that my Mac Studio showed up today! The first thing I after turning it on was buy 1 year's worth of AppleCare. The second thing I did was update MacOS. Now I'm getting everything set up the way I like it. The only downside to getting a new computer is installing apps and getting everything just the way I want it.

This is the most powerful Mac I have ever owned. It's looking very good perched on it's liquid glass stand. 😆 I hope I am done buying new Mac Desktops for at least 5 years. I made a 2011 iMac last 10. Not only is this thing a beast, but the black keyboard and trackpad look so damn good.

One more update. I decided to give WoW a test drive on the Mac Studio. I had all settings set to maximum. It ran buttery smooth. Not that it's a surprise, but it's nice. I was running on a 1440p monitor. I'm tempted to hook it up to my 4K monitor to see how well it does. One thing that surprised me was being unable to turn on Shadow ray tracing, even though the Studio has ray tracing capabilities.

I only really play WoW these days, just casually now though, just don't have the time for dungeons and raids anymore, I just like dipping in now and then on Classic. But yeah, it just runs so smoothly. I remember trying to run it on the older intel Mac Minis, just turned them into a heater and could barely get 30 FPS on low settings :)
