Not interested in HDMI, memory cards, etc - only USB ports. SSD slot a plus but not mandatory. If the stand / dock is powered I need it to turn off power to the USB ports when the Mac turns off.

I've multiple low-bandwidth USB2/3 devices (keyboard, mouse, Time Machine 2.5" HDD, etc) that are currently connected to TB4/5 docks but I'd rather have them Mac-powered since I have to shut down these devices from the dock otherwise, and I'd rather use the front panel ports on especially the Mini without tying up the Thunderbolt ports at back for these kinds of devices.

Any good suggestions?
The UGREEN stand hub seems like the most plausible candidate at the moment but is not ideal - especially as it uses one of the rear ports.

In summary:

- Stand design for Mini and/or Studio - I'm looking replicate the functionality of existing USB-C/A hubs without trying to turn the immediate area of each Mac into a bigger sprawl than it already is
- if powered, device shuts down power to USB ports on host connection loss
- Maximum number of USB (A or C, USB2+3) ports drawn from (both?) the front panel USB ports on the M4 Mac Mini or Studio
- 2.5" SATA or NVMe SSD slot a plus but not mandatory

I've been using the UGREEN Revodok Pro 313 with my M4 mini. I too needed enough USB-A ports (I don't understand how Apple expects you to use a mini with a keyboard and mouse), and wanted to make sure it didn't take away a USB-C port. It works fine without external power. 4 A ports seems to be about the limit for an unpowered hub, and almost all the docks I could find came with extra ports.

That's the thing - I already have Thunderbolt docks with 3-4 USB ports and I'd rather reserve those for full-speed 5/10Gbps devices. I'm specifically looking for something that attaches to the front of the Mini and maybe the Studio as well (with the Studio I might just have to resign myself to dongle city and just continue to string it up with multiple TB docks as I currently have) for USB2 devices in particular but also for occasional-use, lower-bandwidth USB3 devices.
