Is every storage configuration of the new M5 iPad Pro "2x faster" than the previous M4 models? In Macs the speeds vary by storage size with larger capacities getting faster speeds. Is that true for iPads now? Curious if every capacity of the M5 iPads is faster yoy.

The marketing doesn't specify a particular capacity so I assume it's across the board but it would be great to confirm.

Edit: Found this comparison between the M5 512GB (6650R/4875W sequential) and M4 1TB (2695R/1690W sequential). Looks to be across the board.

I knew it, I daily drive my iPad Pro M4 now M5. And everything feels palpably faster across the board.

You actually noticed the difference in real life use? What capacity are your M4 and M4 M5 iPPs?

I have an M4 and i picked an M5 up at the store and it did feel smoother. Of course, that might have just been their demo setup running no apps in the background, and the screen brightness being jacked up made everything look pretty. Just a 2-second observation, and maybe I was wanting to be impressed?

Can somebody with a 1TB M5 please show their Jazz Disk Bench results?

Wondering why the 4K random read is slower on the 1TB and 2TB models vs 256gb.

This is perhaps the most important metrics to storage.

JazzDisk Lite:

5953 Read / 1595 Write Sequential MB/sec

54.91 Read / 42.7 Write Random MB/sec

Thanks, so that’s twice confirmed 8-10 MB/sec slower 4K random read than 256/512 M5.

Probably not very noticeable, but it is interesting. 15%-20% slower.

my M5 512GB.

The difference in write speed to the 1 tb is a bit shocking imho...

EDIT: oh i see you already figured out, that the random value is more important? that's pretty similar. but why is the sequential write that much different?
