Morning:
I was recently given a Macbook MA254LL/A that needed some work but the price was right (free)...
After replacing the cover (display hold-down screws were broken) and loading Snow Leopard, I discovered that the fan is not coming on...
Upon further investigation the fan connector appears to be damaged on the logic board (it moves when you touch it)...
Rather than replace the original 1.83 GHz core duo board, I can upgrade it to a 2.00 GHz board for about $200.00; however, apparently this board can have a mix of three and four wall connectors or just straight four wall connectors...
I don't want to pull every connector off the board to find out what I have if I don't have to...
Is there some way to identify this board (regarding the mixed or non-mixed connectors) so I can order the correct 2.00 GHz logic board...
I can't ask anyone at Apple as the macbook is 6 years old...
Has anyone ever swapped out the 1.83 GHz for a 2.00 GHz logic board?
Help?
