I've got my Macbook Pro hooked up to my 24" Dell using the DVI and it dual screens and mirrors fine ( although the res is awful ) . I'm connected to the MBP using the Bluetooth keyboard and a pen tablet.

My problem is when i close the lid the MBP just goes into standby and will not come out.

If i power the MBP up then close the lid immediately the same things happens.

Suggestions please. TIA

First of all, it must be connected to power.

Second, you need something connected to USB to force it awake (a thumb drive, mouse, hard drive) and connect it after it is sleeping. Since USB is an active bus, the system will wakeup and should begin to serve to the screen, after a second or two, it will recognize your keyboard and everything should be fine.

Are you running off battery or mains. I did this today off the battery and my bluetooth keyboard would not wake my MBP. Attached the power cable and everything ran as expected.
