edit: resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling Nvidia Driver. It didn't occur to me that this would solve this since I updated the firmware manually through the Nvidia app itself and it still didn't work.

I bought a 1050Ti (no flash) last December to drive a 4k monitor @60hz. I also had to upgrade my OS to High Sierra by using Dosdude's High Sierra Patcher. For the retina look I enabled HiDPI since I got a 24" 4k monitor. It has been working flawlessly since then. Now, it isn't working.

I'm getting GPU not detected on Nvidia Driver Manager. I'm also getting VGA controller as detected on SYSTEM report.

  • I did the PRAM and SMC resets.
  • I replaced the single 6pin power cable even though it is a little loose on the mainboard side.
    • gpu fans running as normal so I assume cable is working
  • Did permission reset as well.
  • switched video cards slots, I still have the 2600xt (still working to drive 1080P monitor)
  • updated firmware
  • update High Sierra
I'm willing to reinstall High Sierra if needed. Is my GPU fried?
