Mac address use with icloud

Firstly if this is in the wrong section I am sorry.

I am basically wondering if I have a .Mac account (note it is not email just iTunes etc) I was basically wondering if I will be able to use icloud with that address... I wonder because I managed to get (myname)@Mac.com and if I can use it for icloud email it would be great. I never upgraded to me.com because I had no reason to...

Any information would be appreciated
