So I have been humming along fine then, like a switch flipped, I have been having a TON of trouble with my mac (MBP, M1 Max) and Lightroom, and the associated image files.

Problem 1) I add "stars" or a "color" to an image, and the image has those attributes, but they do not show live on the film strip beneath the Lr window. See images 1-3, attached. They do seem to show after 24 hours....

Problem 2) Images seem to disappear, or Lr does not seem to see them See image 4, attached. ALL the images for this project are all in the same folder. Some were edited yesterday, and some more added today. ALL images are on an M.2 Drive in an OWC TB4 enclosure attached directly to a TB4 port ON the MBP, not to a hub or anything.

Any ideas or things to try? I have run First Aid thinking maybe permissions or something are f'ed up. No joy.

Thanks!

I'm running an M2 Studio with a directly attached OWC Thunderbolt enclosure (1.M.2). The good news is I’m not having any of the issues you identified. The bad news is I’ve had nothing but issues with LR since v13. Images can't go to trash, inconsistent speeds, different capture dates on the same image, jpeg vs raw or duplicates of either and lost develop history to name what comes to mind. Seems the catalog has gone wonky. Over the course of at least a month I’ve tried all sorts of hopeful remedies, including erasing the external, and repopulating it, looking at permissions, reinstalling LR. Same issues.

The LR community boards are weird. A few share these same issues, most (I assume) do not.

I purchased ON1 a few months ago. Pretty good. Its iOS app is not ready for prime time (no lens corrections). I travel a lot and need a fully functional iOS app. But it shows promise and I suspect it may be a viable option at some point.
