Hello everyone,

I'm pretty new to the Mac scene. I got my first Mac just recently.

I see that with Mac OS, Apps are downloaded as DMG files and get mounted and then the .APP file is dragged to the Applications folder and then the installation is all done and complete, which is a gazillion trillion times better than any other thing I have seen.

Can somebody please explain to me though;

1) Where are the files or settings of these apps are stored?

2) What happens behind the scenes of this installation process?

3) Does Mac have such things as Registery etc like Windows?

4) How are the Apps uninstalled and do they leave crap behind like PCs and if yes, hoe to completely remove them?

Thank you!

1. An .app file is just a package, which contains the settings and all the relevant data. User settings are stored in the Application Support folder in Macintosh HD / Users / YOU / Library. Sometimes additional files get copied into the Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support folder too.

2. Nothing. Just simple Copy and Paste.

3. No.

4. Best way to FULLY DELETE a program
