mac app not retrieving messages

Hi,
I was checking my mail at school, but when i got home, the messages that i checked weren't being retrieved by mail. anyone know how i can fix this?

You probably need to set your school email program to leave the messages on the server rather than delete them. That way they're still there when you check from home
