I'd like to keep my M1 free from Intel software and Rosetta. But even in general I think it would be a good idea if the App Store showed which applications were already compiled for M1 and which weren't. Please send feedback to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/ asking them to implement this change. Shouldn't be too hard for them to go beyond "Works on this Mac" by also saying "x86 & ARM" or "x86 only" or "ARM only".

Already done. The App Store should be more transparent.

If you’ve got one of the 8GB Macs, that approach does make sense. Especially with apps that are already burdensome, like Microsoft Teams. Bear in mind some of these apps will also run in a native browser.

If you have 16, 32 or 64GB, it doesn’t really matter. This is macOS, not the Windows of old where an install would litter your file system with $hi7. Everything gets installed in one place so only a tiny, compartmentalised bit of your file system is sullied with the unclean.
