Is there a way to use another mac as a set of external speakers over a network?

Basically i want my MacBook to broadcast it's sound to another mac.

I think that I've head of something similar where you connect your airport base station to speakers and then have them as external speakers for your computer.

If you have Airport express it's somewhat easy:
Connect a cable from the output of the AP Express to the other Mac's input port. On that Mac, open Sound preferences, and click on input, then click Sound Input under the list. Then broadcast iTunes over Airtunes, and it should work.

I don't have airport unfortunately.

Is there some way that i could use the headphone jack to connect to the input of a mac but still have sound play on my MB's internal speakers?

See the article, Playing live audio on another Mac, which describes how to use the built-in audio units, AUNetSend and AUNetReceive, and SoundFlower to stream audio from one computer to another... ;)
