Hi,
I am using a dell u3419w widescreen monitor as connected via usb c to my work Dell laptop. All works fine - I also have the usb uplink cable to the monitor so that the monitors inbuilt kvm switch works for other devices connected to the monitor (in this case I am using a MacBook Pro 2018 with Big Sur). I have a windows keyboard connected to the monitor and as above this is shared with the MacBook.
First obvious issue is that the keyboard doesn't have Mac relevant keys - I can live with that. However, there is a utility for the monitor called Dell display manager and it is set so that cntrl/alt and right cursor key switches the monitor onto the hdmi the MacBook is on - this works fine , however I can't work out how to switch back to the windows machine - only way to do it is by the manual controls on the monitor which is about 6 clicks and very fiddly. I though about buying one of those jellycomb keyboards that are supposedly for windows and Macs but this works by moving bluetooth over - that's not really what I want to do and I am not sure even if this will work on switching it back between monitors.. Anyone had any similar experience?
Thanks

I believe it is because the Dell Display Manager is on the windows PC but not the Mac. Supposedly Dell is working on a Mac version for "early 2021".

Is there a Mac version of the Dell Display Manager Software?
  • No. Dell is working closely with our software development teams to have a Mac version of the Dell Display Manager by early 2021.
