.Mac Backup to Leopard?

I'd like to do a fresh install of Leopard on my MBP. I use Backup regularly, but I'm wondering how it will work for Leopard. Can I make a backup to my external hard drive, then do a clean install of 10.5, then use Backup to retreive my data?
