Hello All,
I just bought a refurb 2017 mac book air and when I started it up the computer-directed me to install OS X, after the download was complete the computer restarted itself and the next message was "OS X could not be installed in your computer, No packages available". I have not had any help from the company that I purchased the computer from. This is my first mac and I dont know what the hell to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like El Capitan (OS X 10.11.6), The installer doesn't always work. One of the reasons is that that security certificate can expire. You can try fixing this by changing the system date to an older date.

Boot to the installer. When you get to the menu screen, run Terminal. You will find that in the Utilities menu.
You will see a command line interface. Type:
Code:
date 1116211618
Then press Return. You can then quit the terminal, which will return you to the menu screen. Run Reinstall OS X.
Should work this time. The date will automatically correct itself when you connect to internet.
