I have a 2006 macbook with a battery that is not doing well. The battery stats are:

Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 2507
Remaining Capacity (mAh): 2499
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 12403
Cycle Count: 214

I went to the apple store yesterday and the genius said that batteries are only covered for one year, or 300 charges whichever comes first. Therefore despite having apple care I would have to buy a new battery on my own.

Is this true? Would I have better luck calling apple directly?

Thanks for your help!

Just as an update, I called apple and they sent me a new one for free, under the battery update 1.2!
