Mac book pro 2010 Magsafe Reversed polarity

Hello Guys.
Last week a friend of mine tried to "repair" my magsafe but ended up switching the polarity of the damned thing!
Now i am stuck with my mac turning on (via battery) but not taking any power.The Light doesn't turn on on my magsafe and the battery doesn't charge at all.
If you could help me you would really save me as i am in no position to buy a new laptop.
Any help is appreciated.
