Mac book pro 15 late 2014 how is the life using it in clamshell mode connected to my smart tv for daily use? Will it be ok to keep it closed or will having it open do it better?

MBP's used to throttle the CPU heavily in Clamshell mode, I don't know if this is still true of the new ones though.

I need something to take on the go as well.. Mac mini is not that strong as a mac book pro

Never experienced it on neither my 2008 or 2012 machines.
