Hi all,

My GF bought her Mac book pro in 2012. Its not working and is only one year old.

She loaded it up this morning and it took for ages to boot. Now it takes ages to boot and then every time you click on something you get the clock turning as if it was busy and everything takes forever!

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Its only a year old and we live in the Seychelles where I am not sure there will be anyone who can fix it!

Please help!! She has loads of important stuff and needs the mac for help!

Thank you.

I had the same issue last night here are a few things to try

turn off MBP

turn on and quickly hold CMD and R this will bring you to a recovery menu

click disk utility

click your hard drive on the left pane

cick repair disk and than repair permisions

once thats done restart MBP

if its still hanging on the boot screen repeat steps to get back to recovery menu

this time click re-install OS (dont worry it does not do a clean install it leaves all your files alone)

re-installing OS is what worked for me

And the minute the machine boots....do a backup. If you have a backup no data loss even if you have to do a reinstall of the OS.
