Mac Book Pro not shutting down

Hello,
My MBP won't shut down; goes to blue screen, then I have to hold down the power button to shut it off.
I tried repair permissions.
I attached a screen shot from the activity monitor.
It shows the process "WindowServer" taking 28.9% of the CPU.
And "kernel task" taking 9.7%.

Please advise if you know what I should do.
