I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running High Sierra. Every so often it shuts down and re-starts usually when I am browsing ebay. Does anyone know how I can rectify this it is so infuriating.

Thank you in anticipation.Re

The 2010s (like mine & yours) & the 2011's have faulty Graphics cards, which causes them to restart with a GPU panic;
it happens usually with Flash animation &/or 1080p video... they need soldering or a replaced GPU..
...it happens to me when i try to visit the Apple website (& a few others) or try to watch video over 780p resolution (sometimes)...
it can also happen randomly

They posted 'solutions' on here, (& some kind of software fix) but they told to get lost when i asked for help :(

Who told you to get lost?

I came to Macrumors with the same issue and other members were quite helpful and pointed out the correct replacement capacitor to use.
I would have to check;
it was a few months ago, after someone posted their software solution...

Can a faulty external monitor cause this problem I have, I have disconnected it and it is not shutting down as yet but it is early days.

Hi Audit 13 I ran Cine bench and as soon as I clicked on Open GL my mac closed down. It did this every time I went in.
