Mac calendar duplicate entries

I am suddenly getting duplicate entries in my calendar on my iPad and my iPhone but not my Mac. Not all the entries are duplicated - only those that are annual entries, like birthdays, and those with a yellow spot by them, which are family events. How can I remove them?
