Hi my friend has just given me his mac desktop and ive been trying to do a clean install of OS X, i started it by loading the factory install cd from the desktop and then reinstalling from there. It has had no problem with cd one but when it asks for cd2 it gets stuck when it says 'installing pages' it gets to 6% then changes too 'there were errors installing this software, please try installing again'. So i keep trying buy restarting the computer and it gets stuck on the same place, tried cleaning the cd aswell.

Has anyone had the same error and found a solution or do i need to get a new install disc?

Sounds like one of the disks is scratched. Try rubbing the business side with a soft cloth. If that doesn't help, you could just deselect the optional installs during the install process. If you don't install iLife or iWork, it won't prompt you for the second disk.
