A geeky question I guess. I had a .mac account in the past, but it expired. Recently I noticed they kept my user name available, so I purchased a retail box, so I could re-activate and get the same old name I liked.

With the .mac to .me conversion coming up soon, I wonder which will become the "real" user account, and which one will be an alias and\or redirect.

I could just wait until me.com is released, but my user name is as common as jsmith, so it would probably not be available. And by then, I probably could no longer re-activate my old user name as a .mac.

I know, technically it does not make a huge difference, but as an IT guy, I'd prefer if it the .mac user names became aliases, and the new me.com addresses became the "real" accounts...
