Mac crashes when opening Finder, iPhoto, and web broswers.

Mac OS X 10.6.8

Finder crashes every time I try to access the Applications Folder. I can no longer open iPhoto, and periodically my web browsers will crash 15 minutes within opening them. What's going on? This computer isn't even 6 months old.

I'd appreciate your help and feedback! Thanks.
