Hi everyone,

I'm having an odd issue with dictation on my Mac. When I dictate, it inserts strange tags like \pronoun, \period, and \question-mark. I can't find anyone else reporting this online, and I also tried troubleshooting with ChatGPT, but the issue persists. Here are two examples:

Example 1:
What I dictate: "I want to travel this year."
What it writes: "I\pronoun want to travel this year .\period"

Example 2:
What I dictate: "Am I going to meet you at three p.m.?"
What it writes: "Am I\pronoun going to meet you at three p.m. ?\question-mark"

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Checked Dictation settings in System Preferences > Keyboard > Dictation, and:
    • a. Confirmed dictation is enabled.
    • b. Ensured the language is set to English (United States).
    • c. Toggled dictation off and on again.
    • d. Restarted my Mac.
  2. Restarted my Mac multiple times.
  3. Ensured macOS is up to date (I'm running macOS Monterey on an M1 MacBook Pro).
  4. Quit third-party apps like Keyboard Maestro, Alfred, and BetterTouchTool.
I cannot upgrade past Monterey due to some legacy apps that would break if I do.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have ideas about what might be causing it? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
