Hi everyone,
I'm having an odd issue with dictation on my Mac. When I dictate, it inserts strange tags like \pronoun, \period, and \question-mark. I can't find anyone else reporting this online, and I also tried troubleshooting with ChatGPT, but the issue persists. Here are two examples:
Example 1:
What I dictate: "I want to travel this year."
What it writes: "I\pronoun want to travel this year .\period"
Example 2:
What I dictate: "Am I going to meet you at three p.m.?"
What it writes: "Am I\pronoun going to meet you at three p.m. ?\question-mark"
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have ideas about what might be causing it? Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Checked Dictation settings in System Preferences > Keyboard > Dictation, and:
- a. Confirmed dictation is enabled.
- b. Ensured the language is set to English (United States).
- c. Toggled dictation off and on again.
- d. Restarted my Mac.
- Restarted my Mac multiple times.
- Ensured macOS is up to date (I'm running macOS Monterey on an M1 MacBook Pro).
- Quit third-party apps like Keyboard Maestro, Alfred, and BetterTouchTool.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have ideas about what might be causing it? Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
