Hi I've got this Mac OS X 10.6.5 (10H574)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.5.0,
and for some time he displays file names alphabetically-backwards, and now he started flipping pictures upside down. It doesn't happen all the time, however.. Does anyone know what's going on? I attach screen shot of files

as far as the backwards thing in your picture, that is expected behavior.
The little black triangle pointing down means it's in reverse sort mode, click the column header again, the triangle will flip, and so will the list.

not sure about the picture upside down thing, is it possible they were taken with an iPhone or other smart phone? if so the pictures are always all the same way with relation to the orientation of the phone, so if you hold the camera upside down, it will be upside down when you look at it. (same holds true for vertically or horizontally) The iphone gets around this by setting a tag in the image as to what side is really the top of the image, some image viewers don't take that into account.

Click the "Name" field to switch between ascending and descending alphabetical sort. As to the pics, I have no idea.

Under the Displays System Preference, check to see if there's a Rotation pop up menu. It might be set to 180 degrees by the sound of it.

The entire screen isn't reversed, just some pictures (and the OP has the sort order reversed). I imagine the pictures were taken upside down or changed accidentally in Preview and then saved.

Thank you!

Many thanks to everyone; I fixed the files, really had no idea about it, once I know it seems pretty obvious. The photos upside down were on facebook, but they seem to be fine now. I checked my Rotation tool and no setting has been changed. Thank you again!
