I reformatted my Mac yesterday, reinstalled and updated all the software, And now it seems it won't download over 400kbps I checked my connection speed and its coming back at 8mpbs. reset my router etc. but to no avail. it doesn't matter what I try to download the rate won't go over 400. just seems to flicker around the 350-390 range. Any advice would be appreciated. cheers.

mac OS X 10.6.8 and I'm using Firefox, but have tried with safari and I still have the same issue. doesn't matter where I am in the house or whether I am wired or wireless to the router.... cheers.

And why did you do this? Were you trying to fix some other problem?
Do you have any third-party software installed -- particularly anything that runs in the background all the time?

Any other computers on the network that can test their download speed?

You say you "checked the connection speed". With what?
