I am interested in making an editing studio for my own freelance work. I like to work on many projects at once so I need some "advice" on best bang for my buck. I am familiar with mac, I have a macbook pro 2.2 ghz 15 with final cut express but I have been recently able to severely upgrade 
. I would ultimately like to have a separate monitor of some kind (cinema display, lcd, hd whatever) and an awesome computer for editing. Already have the macbook pro but would like to have a home setup. I have considered both g5 and imacs, all years, on a $900.00 budget.
I have a JVC GR-HD1U camera with an external shotgun and xlr adapters as far as sound. I am interested in Final Cut Studio, I have future creative projects I would like to really engage in. Sadly I am around PC users so advice on mac is far and few. I only know the basics for macs as far as models and speed. I was camera for most of my productions so I never really played a role in editing. A recent fascination in editing has inspired me to expand. So I stumbled upon this awesome forum and figured I'd ask the real professionals!
