Hey, I have an external HDD that I use mainly for my pc, and I've switched files between the PC and Mac multiple times before with the external HDD. Now when I try to, when I plug the USB into my MBP a bar starting from top to bottom pops up and tells me I must hold the power button. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Thanks

Open up your apps folder, go to Utilities, and open Console.
Check the system.log and seek to the time you plugged in the HD. Note any error messages

umm, I guess this is around the time.

I don't think that error log is going to help much. Do any other USB devices crash this Mac? Do you have another USB cable you can try?
