Mac freezes up sometimes when playing media

Happens every couple of days when I am playing media/videos in Safari. Get the spinning beach ball and have to force shut down the computer. Has been happening for a while now - didnt happen on mountain lion.

I uninstalled flash and then reinstalled it which didnt seem to help.
