I have a mb 2.4 250gb. i have been having hard drive problems. 3 drives have failed. They looked at the computer noticed that i had 3rd party ram. they said "the ram is causing the problems" they said they would fix it but if it happen again they will not. He then tried to sell me 4gb of ram at $250. I know it is a load of crap ram will not cause hd problems it could logicboard problems if the speks of the ram are not the same speks as the factory ram. i know i should have put the factory ram back.

Define "failed" for your drives.

If data becomes corrupted, but the SMART status on all of them remains verified, then I might have to agree that flaky RAM could play a part in it. After all, everything you do runs through your RAM.

the drive is no longer recognized at all by the system and in one case the motor would not spin. have not put orginal ram back in but was running fine with aftermarket ram from late feb until early sept.
