Pardon my ignorance as I am a new Mac user. I own a new MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.7). The Mac HD icon on my desktop, when opened, used to display six folders inside. It now shows only five: Applications, Library, System, User Guides and Users. Which folder am I missing? Thank you.

This is what I have, mind you I added pictures & dropbox.

Maybe you had Developer stuff installed?

It doesn't really matter, you can have whatever you want on the top level of your HD.

The Developer folder shows up from time to time in / after updates and Java stuff. I normally delete the Guides alias.

I only have four.. I wonder what happened to my User Guides folder.. Anyway to recover ti?

why are you guys talking about the sidebar when he clearly means the actual contents of the HD folder itself?

that is just a shortcut to another folder

Library > Documentation > User Guides

Yeah...it is the Developer folder. I just noticed mine missing too. I'm not sure what happened to it. I don't know if it went missing after the fact that I installed the Java update. I don't know if it will pop back up later either, so I just restored from time machine.
