Mac + HDTV problem

I have my late-2007 MacBook connected via the Mini-DVI -> DVI adapter and DVI -> HDMI cable to my (Bravia) HDTV. It's all been working fine, except for one thing - the screen's brightness seems to change at random intervals. It doesn't flicker (it's not fast), but sometimes during the credits of movies / shows or on the Front Row menu, I notice that the screen's brightness changes. Does anyone know if this is a known issue, and if it can be fixed?
