There used to be a way in the Home App to reorder the rooms on the sidebar. I know you could click and drag the rooms to reorder them in the sidebar to make the same layout as the main view.

Did something change with one of the MacOS updates that stopped this?

I'm having the same issue, I feel as though this should mirror "Re-order Sections" in the ellipsis menu, but for whatever reason, is now disconnected, with new rooms stuck to the bottom of the sidebar list on Mac and iPad.

I don't think there's a way to reorder them in the sidebar. In my case, all my rooms are sorted alphabetically, even when renaming or adding new rooms.

That is exactly what I've seen, new rooms going to the bottom.

There was a way / time when you could reorder them on the sidebar. I always thought it was weird it never matched the "re-order sections" of the Home app. I basically want it aligned with how the floor plan is in my home.

Side question - how did you get yours sorted alphabetically?

I didn't do anything. That's just how they appear in the sidebar on my Mac and iPad.

These are my rooms:

When I add a couple more, they get inserted alphabetically:

Interesting. I'd be fine if it would even sort alphabetically, however it doesnt matter what I add the rooms always default to the bottom.

I wonder if that is just another MacOS bug just like how the AirDrop icon disapears from the sidebar in Finder.
