Hello!

I am new to this site and have not much experience with a Mac, also I do not have any access to one at the moment.

I hope this is the right place to ask for help regarding this.

One visitor of a site where I am the website administrator reportet that she has problems accessing it properly with an IE on Mac. I already asked her for a detailed description of the problem and what Browser and OS she exactly uses and that was her response:

I use internet explorer with Mac OSX 10 3.8

I can log onto SPARC, but when I click on the icons on the left hand side nothing happens. I don't go to another screen.

it just flashes, as though changing page, but the home page just comes up.

I tried on my Mac at home with the same result.

Now before I email her again and ask her which IE Version she has, I wanted to know whether anyone has any idea why this might occur.

The website I am talking about is www.sparc.ac.uk

I asked another friend (unfortunately living to far away to go there and check myself) to check whether he has any problems with his Mac / IE but there wasn't any.

I hope someone can help since I' ve been looking for a solution to this problem for quite a while.

I would appreciate any comment.

Thanks

I'd be concerned if this was a PC version of IE. IE for Mac is a sinking ship - not even included with Tiger. Tell them to use another browser if it is just this one person.

Thanks for your replies.

Asking her to use another browser (or at least whether she has another browser available) was one of my earlier thoughts but I have had bad experiences with suggesting other browsers / software, most times those people don't want to be bothered with learning a new software.

But I could ask her to use Safari, I guess this should be installed on her Mac, so at least she doesn't have to install it.

yeah normally I wouldn't suggest telling the user to switch browsers cuz it's a bit of a no-no in my books but in the case of IE on Mac I think it's justified.
