Hi guys, I am tearing my hair out, hope someone can help me!

I share our cable broadband connection between 2 mac minis. I was originally using an ethernet switch but used to lose the connection regularly on one mac when the other was put to sleep or restarted.

I was then advised to get a router which I did. After a lot of trouble we got it working, lost the connection to 1 mac or the other a few times and then it just stopped working all together and we couldn't get the 2 macs connected again.

We went back to the switch but as usual it stopped working for 1 mac when the other restated and now no matter what we do we can't get both macs connected, it's either one or the other!

We have messed around with the settings and manually put them back to what they were when it worked to no avail!

Can anyone help please? Even if it's just some advice about what numbers our IP addresses, router addresses and subnet masks should be set at?

Many Thanks
Polkadot :)
