Is there a way to tell my Mac and iPhone what wi-fi channel and band to use when connecting with each other?

When I try to connect my mac and iPhone via wi-fi, it sometimes takes a real long time to make the connection. Sometimes it never connects. Sometimes it connects quick ok.

I ran Wireless Diagnostics on the mac and it says Crowded Wi-Fi Channel. And Poor Wireless Environment, there is a significant amount of wireless interference. It says try using the 5 GHz band.

But I don't see any way to do that. And I don't see any way to choose a different channel. The connection is always 2.4 GHz channel 6 automatically.

I tried Create Network on the Mac wi-fi, but it doesn't seem to work.

My mac was made in 2019 and has 10.15.7. Have iPhone SE (2020) with ios 14.4. I don't have a router.
