I'm wondering when Apple might start the promotion of getting an iPod touch free with the purchase of a computer. I am buying one for my son's graduation but was thinking of holding off for that deal. Does this promotion always start around the same time every year?

Yeah, usually starts on the last half of this month. Don't forget the $100 (active all the time) rebate that they offer on a new printer.

It's kind of a mail in rebate. But don't distress - it's not a 'normal' mail in rebate. Apple handles them itself and you get it within a month - I've never had one take longer than 2 weeks though. And you actually file for it electronically, not by mail. If you buy at the Apple Store, they'll actually help you do it after you checkout.

It's mail-in. But can the 200 or whatever they give you be used on an iPad? If it can't I'll just sell the iPod on ebay

On past offers, they specifically listed the product numbers that qualified for the rebate.
