Resolved Mac keeper messing up my internet. AVOID AVOID!!!

Installed a demo or something of Mackeeper and when I realised I had to pay for it during the first scan I got rid of it.

Now whenever I load an internet page it automatically open another page something to do with Mackeeper. I have adblock installed but it still happens a lot.

Also when I used to type in the url bar it would search via google but now its only-search.com

How can I sort this out as its really driving me nuts.

I have but like now when I clicked reply a new tab opens and takes me to a random site.

How do I sort all this as its now like I have a virus!

I know what you've got, my SO had opensearch on her Macbook Air. I ended up installing Avast! (free edition) to get rid of it as its very well hidden I couldn't manually uninstall it. Avast worked a treat.
 
Thank you, while searching for answers I came across AdwareMedic which just scanned my comp found 4 items and got rid of them.

Just restarted and it seems all is gone and its working fine now and my url bar now searches with Google.

Phew, thank you and all steer clear from Mackeeper!!!!
 
Mac Keeper The bane of mac users - it definitely something that you want to avoid. I'm glad you were able to get it removed.
 
Change your browser preferences

After removal, you will probably need to go into the settings of your web browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.) and change the home page and search engine preferences and remove any search engines you don't use. Set the home page to the website you would like to see every time you open the browser (maybe www.macrumors.com). These types of Malware change those settings so you will always go to a site they select instead of what you want.
 
I liked the idea of it hence why I downloaded it but never again.

Is there any app/product like this thats fine :)
