My mac does not show the correct time, this happened sometime last week/last few days.

I started noticing it when a notification comes up and it is late, the mac and my iPhone dont get a reminder notification at the same time because the mac is behind. Overnight it was 20 seconds behind! :(

When I open system preferences the time syncs again, but after a while it lags behind.
Any ideas?

Are you sure you have the box checked in the Date and Time Preferences to Set Date and Time Automatically. Also be sure it's set to use the most local server in the pull-down menu.

If the above has been done, which iMac do you have, and what OS are you using.

Are you just talking about the difference between what the clock shows in your System Preferences and what's shown on the Menu Bar? If so, then as Chippy mentioned, don't worry about it. The System Preferences will show the update almost instantly from the server. The Menu Bar is updated at a slower rate.

Yes, all the automatic boxes are checked and the use the most local server in the pull-down menu.
I have 21,5 inch late 2013 iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

No, I'm not talking about the status bar only, everything that shows time on the Mac is lagging behind. Its not just a few seconds, like I said overnight it gets to 20 seconds. So after a week I would get over 2 minutes etc.
Right now I just was a clock that can show the correct time, since that is all clock is, a thing that shows the current time. :p

Thanks for replying!
