wtf? This is especially true with the new iPad being a power hog. My friend has a 15" Mac laptop & I have an MSI GX740-235US. When my iPad is plugged in to my laptop, it says Not Charging but if there's nothing running in the background and I leave it asleep it charges, whereas his Mac charges whether or not I use it. Just not at a very fast speed. Why?

Because most recent Macs are capable of putting out high current on USB ports. It's not a Mac exclusive thing I don't think, just not very common on other PCs.

The fastest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.

Apple peripheral devices may request more than 500 mA (Milliamps) at 5 V (Volts) from a port to function or to allow for faster charging

I don't want an overpriced laptop. I'll stick to mine thank you :)

Ah...I always thought that a USB 2.0 port was a USB 2.0 port. Learn something new every day I suppose. It still annoys me lol.

Not all USB ports can supply enough power.

Apple changed their Mac lines (aside from Mac Pro, which hasnt been updated) to be capable of charging an iPad last year. Its not a Mac exclusive, not by a long shot. Its just that not many other manufacturers have any need to upgrade to powered USB hubs.

Far from overpriced. There isnt a single laptop on the market which matches the quality, usability, and craftsmanship/design of a MacBook.

Makes sense that Apple would want to do that. Thanks for the input :D
