Mac Lion and time machine

Hi all,

I recently upgraded to lion and i have noticed that in my upper toolbar, a little exclamation mark is present in my little time machine icon

This indicates that it is trying to locate the external hard drive but is unable to

Time machine on lion wants to back up ALL the time
every 2-3 hours i have noticed
Is there any way to have it so that it only backs up when i plug in my external drive? Like in OSX?

Lion is Mac OS X, and Time Machine wants to backup every hour, and if the HDD is not connected, it will backup the next time it is connected. If the HDD is then connected for more than an hour, it will backup again after an hour when connected.

You could use Time Machine Editor to edit the backup times.
